finished moving stuff in, now to situate it... got my old bike working (although one of the training wheels is broken - siiiike!) cooked up some artichokes, and the weekend is already over. luckily its a short week, yay!
also noticed at the farmers market that its berry season. Picked up some awesome raspberrys. Reminded me of when my dad snuck us onto a farm in washington and we picked fresh logan berries and stuffed our face. all sorts of cool berries up there, boisenberries... but yeah, the point I was gonna make today was, if you like to buy organic fresh things but think their too expensive to justify at the supermarket, go to your local farmers market, its all fresh, straight from the farm, organic, and cheaper than the supermarket. Oil could go to $6 a gallon this summer if we invade Iran. You'll bet you'll feel that at the supermarket, they have to truck all that stuff around the country.

got my internet back up and working this am at the new place. strangely, my blogger has stopped working however. I'm going to switch back to moveable type (the original blogger software). it just won't let me publish anything anymore, odd. so i'm doing this all by hand in the meantime.
beowulf was pretty darn cool, not what i was expecting. very graphic, bloody, lots of cg nudity which was just weird. the people looked great, a lot of detail, but there was something very 'shrek' about them. the opening fight with grendel is pretty awesome, and the environments are great, the camera work is great. the last act is a bit of a surprise - as it wasn't in the saga.
the 3d part was amazing, and I wouldn't see this movie in a regular theater. I remember for a brief second in a fight scene getting pissed off at a guy who stood up in the row in front of me, to my left side, but the middle of the action! I was pissed! Then I realized he was 3d in the movie! hahahaha. very neat.

going to check out | beowulf | tonight in imax 3d. we all know the story, I even wrote a 30 page paper on it in High school - the | role of women | in Beowulf (there are 2 roles which make up about 6 lines of the epic) - but it will be neat to see how they envision it... and of course the 3d.
Having worked on Final Fantasy, it will be nice to see - how much closer they've gotten - from a purely technical standpoint. Its also supposed to be the first movie conceived for the new 3d systems. Unlike Nightmare before Xmas 3d, or Chicken Little 3d - in which 3d became an after thought and gimmick. The shots and camerawork in Beowulf were originally designed with a 3d audience in mind. So its a glimpse at the future of filmmaking... hopefully. I wouldn't see this movie in a non-3d theater.
Lets hope its impressive, even if the story is a bit thin... then again, you can't have people crying on their 3d glasses...

been reading | the deliberate dumbing down of america
| Its pretty interesting. Its by a former Reagan US Dept of Education
Senior Policy Advisor. She was asked to leave in 1985, shortly after
blowing the whistle on the combining of the US and Soviet education
systems by an agreement between Reagan and Gorbachev.
This is
why public school children are no longer educated to think as free
people, but conditioned. Conditioned to follow orders, to go along with
anything, and to think the only purpose of an education is to get a
good job. beyond scary stuff. The book is free and online and chocked
full of government documents.
"just say no" to drugs should have been, "just say no" to public education :)
